Northwest is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). Northwest was most recently reaffirmed for accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission in January 2019.

• Northwest is a public institution of higher education as and all active Northwest programs are approved by the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development (MDHEWD).
• Northwest receives a certification from the American Chemical Society (ACS) for chemistry programs.
• The Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity major has been validated by the National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Program of Study Validation through the 2027 academic year.
• The Master of Science Education in School Counseling program received national recognition from the American School Counselor Association (ASCA).
